I was looking through my photos and realised that I have taken TOO MANY photographs! But I am glad I did. They brought back memories, to those moments, that is why I love photography. Photos could tell stories and convey emotions that sometimes words could not.
About a year ago, two great friends of mine and myself took a day trip together to Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale. My friend, Crescens, drove us there. It took us about 1.5 hours if I remember correctly to reach the town centre of Queenscliff. Queenscliff is a small town on the Bellarine Peninsula in Southern Victoria, Australia. It is about 100 km South of Melbourne, where we live. It was indeed a small town but very beautiful. We had lunch at the harbour and it was tranquil. Point Lonsdale is the coastal township on the Bellarine Peninsula, only about 4 km west of Queenscliff and so we passed by before we head back to Melbourne. The beach was crowded – we went there on Easter Monday which is a public holiday here in Australia. There was many families, surfing, playing and just enjoying the day.

These are some of the photos taken during the trip! All photographs were taken using Nikon D7000 equipped with a Sigma wide-angle lens, 10-20mm, f4-5.6. They were also edited using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.
Thank God for that beautiful day! It was a really good break for us from our busy working lives. We had such a blessed time and very thankful for it. The highlight for me was when we were at the beach at Point Lonsdale, just sitting, looking at the ocean and listening to the sound of waves. It was pure relaxation and enjoyment. We sat there for a while. I loved it very much!
If you are in Melbourne, go visit both places for a day trip! I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did 🙂

Nice pictures Sury, I also had a similar photography gear, however as I did a lot of traveling lately, those mid-size camera gear become an excess baggage (or at least according to my husband opinion); did you ever think that way? As currently I have a second thought of mid-size DSLR for traveling…
Thanks so much for your kind comment Nina! Yes, I understand what you mean. I feel that way too. It is not easy to travel around with DSLR camera and its photography gear – bulky and heavy! But I love photography a lot and I do not want to regret or miss out on any opportunities I have on photo taking. So I guess I do not mid sacrificing a bit (meaning carrying those heavy gear around) because it made me happy. I have recently just upgraded my camera to a full-frame which weighs more! :p
Yes, I switch to full frame last year, and love it, I never regreted it, and I don’t mind the weight (of the camera and view lenses). Until recently I travel to Iran, where big ful frame camera is obtrusive for street /travel photography, and my husband start commenting of the excess kilos we took just for the camera gear (it weigh as much as the other belongings). 🙁
Hi Nina! Sorry for taking a few days to reply to your comment. Thanks for your reply! Yes, I know how it feels when trying to do street & travel photography with a big bulky camera. It is so obstructive and not discreet at all. Street photography is meant to be discreet. And Yes, it is so heavy as well giving me back-aches! I wish there is a camera that functions like a full frame but weighs like a compact camera – Maybe in the future :p
Actually you can try the Fujifilm X100S if you can get one. I recently got that camera. It’s a mini compared to Nikon and it gives good quality pictures too! I have not had the chance to experiment with the Fujifilm much yet but I will soon! If you look at my post on Australia-NSW-PortStephens, the first 3 photos were taken using Fujifilm X100S.
Quite good actually. Thanks for your explanation; but I am still a loyal Nikon person, so if ever I have to down grade to smaller camera, I will still buying Nikon. 🙂
Thanks for your reply Nina! I am glad you find the explanation helpful. Ahhh yes, I love Nikon as well. It is really great for landscape and urban photography. Maybe you can try the Micro-Thirds camera like Nikon 1…just a thought 🙂

Cool! That’s a great idea! It would be great to be able to use those powerful lenses on a camera that weighs probably nothing compared to a full-frame. That would reduce your weight a lot!
