Introverts

I enjoy reading many blogs. One of them that I really like is by Adam Young from Owl City. I was surprised to know that he was a christian. He read the bible and posted stuff about God and bible verses. I mean how many stars (i.e singers, actress, actors) out there that are christian.Of one particular entries that I really like is about introverts. The book that he shared called ‘The introvert Advantage (How to thrive in an extrovert world)’ by Marti Laney is really interesting. Unfortunately, I do not have the book but I will just quote what Adam Young posted.

‘A section of Laney’s book maps out the human brain and explains how neuro-transmitters follow different dominant paths in the nervous systems of Introverts and Extroverts. If the science behind the book is correct, it turns out that Introverts are people who are over-sensitive to Dopamine, so too much external stimulation overdoses and exhausts them. Conversely, Extroverts can’t get enough of Dopamine, and they require Adrenaline for their brains to create it. Extroverts also have a shorter pathway and less blood-flow to the brain. The message of an Extrovert’s nervous system mostly bypass the Broca’s area in the frontal lobe, which is where a large portion of contemplation takes place’

It is no wonder that I am always scared of crowds or be in a party full of people I do not know. I feel exhausted and anxious. It is also no wonder that I contemplate too much. I tend to over-think things where I should just ‘do it’. It is because I have an hyper-active brain hence causing an ‘hypo personality’.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
