The mind of a child

The mind of a child is one that we as adults should have more often. I am not referring to the childish or playfulness of a child but the innocent or curiosity and endless possibility mind of theirs. The adult mind is too corrupted and self-righteous.

It is a month now since I became a christian. Wow! I am still surprised by it everyday. To someone who is always neutral or playing it safe to actually made a decision to be a christian is quite drastic. And now I am actually writing about it. Only God can make this possible and it is quite amazing.

It is easy sharing this news with other christians. But when it comes to the outsides, I almost tried to hide my identity.

The worry of being a new christian, the worry of not knowing enough of the bible, the worry of questions about my faith scares me when sharing this news with non-christians, people like my parents and friends from work. It seems that I kept telling myself I was not ready to share as yet because I am still so new to it and know so little.

But what is enough? Does knowing little of the bible says that my faith is weak or says that I am a bad christian?

However, I think that is the whole beauty of christianity. Christianity is not a religion. It is not about how much we know or what we do. It is all about trust and faith and love. I agree that it is a bit vague. I admit that when I first knew about christianity and their beliefs, I found that it was just full of nonsense.

It is what it is. It is as simple as having faith in God and believing in Jesus and you will be saved. But the underlying of that is difficult. Sometimes, I need to be more like a child, innocent and curious at the same time and having the endless possibility mind of theirs.

Luke 23:39-43

‘One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”

This is when Jesus was crucified by his own people (the Jews). It is the conversation between Jesus and two other criminals who were crucified for their crimes at the same time. That man (the other criminal) has done nothing to deserve God’s kingdom but by having faith and trust at that little moment before he died, he was saved.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
