Something to save me from the hole

I would like to apologise for not posting anything lately. My life has been a mess – so many things have been going on. Life can just change in an instant. One week I could be fine, and another week my life has been turned upside down. Last few weeks were horrible for me. I wish I could turn back the time and make everything right. I had acne breakout a month ago but I was fortunate enough to be able to see a dermatologist pretty quickly and was put on medications that prevent it from getting worse. It turned out that I was given the wrong dosage by the pharmacist. Due to the overdose, I had massive breakouts and inflammation that leads to swollen, painful cysts acne. What is so painful and frustrating is that my acne is five times worse now than when it first started.

My life was turned upside down. I shun away from the public. I felt hideous. I don’t want to go out at all. I don’t enjoy the things that I love anymore. I have no energy to cook or go exercise. I can’t work. I wish this is just a nightmare that I can wake up from.

My dermatologist gave me an anti-inflammatory drug to reduce inflammation and pain. I’ve been on it for a week now and the inflammation has reduced. However, the massive acne breakout caused by the overdose will take months to heal. And how about the scars? This is gonna take ages to go away and will definitely leave a traumatic mark on me.

I am trying to put my life back to normal. I am trying to do activities that I enjoy again. But sometimes it is still so hard especially when it involves outdoor. I am still very upset and frustrated.

But I’ve got to start somewhere so I made a cake for a special friend whose birthday was last Monday. I am so glad she enjoyed it. We had dinner together at a Chinese restaurant. It was the first big group outing I am in since this incident. It was great having some companion for dinner. I think it was the best meal I’ve had after weeks of lockdown at home.

So this is a strawberry cake with a strawberry jam layer and vanilla buttercream icing.

Recipe will be followed up soon 🙂

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
